The "Nobel" of architecture!
Considered one of the maestros of modern Portuguese architecture - responsible for the design of Porto's Metro stations, Eduardo Souto de Moura (1952) has long stood out for the rigour and precision of his work and is one of the most recognised architects of the "Porto School". He is the second Portuguese to receive the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize, after Álvaro Siza Vieira in 1992.
The Portuguese architect stood out as the chief architect of the first phase of the Porto Metro network (1997-2005) and was an integral part of the entire project. Souto Moura shows great concern for the physical spaces that surround his projects and has a rigorous use of the materials chosen. The peculiar subtlety and careful execution of his work results in sustainable, modern and architecturally rich projects - such as the Porto Metro network.
