Reservatório
Museums & Thematic Centres
"Located in Parque da Pasteleira, in the surprising space of an old water tank, Reservatório was rehabilitated in 2017 by architects Alexandre Alves Costa and Sérgio Fernandez, and has a museological project by João Mendes Ribeiro.
The Reservatório tells the material history of the city, its foundations, its walls and squares, the river that runs through it, its streets and monuments, the evolution of its urban fabric and its successive existences, designed and built by hands of designers and builders.
Station 1 of Museu da Cidade summons fragments to narrate moments that indicate existences of this and other times. Materials from different eras coexist with audiovisual devices and different types of images, to show us how PortuCale, the city that gave Portugal its name, became Porto."
