Founded in 1858 by a Fine Arts student, it was the first frame workshop in Porto.
Several artists designed frame models. Marques de Oliveira, António Carneiro, Fernando Lanhas are some of them.
Among the institutions that have frames made in this house, it includes Câmara Municipal do Porto, Biblioteca Municipal do Porto, Palácio Nacional da Pena, Palácio da Bolsa, Museu Nacional de Soares dos Reis, among others.
The technique of making the frame evolved alongside the restoration of paintings, frames and gilded woodcarving.
It is currently the oldest frame workshop in the world.
