Located in the heart of the historic Porto Botanical Garden, the Hall of Biodiversity - Centro Ciência Viva is one of the poles of the Museum of Natural History and Science of the University of Porto. As a result of the creative work of a multidisciplinary team, this museological space where art, science and literature meet, invites the visitor to take part on a journey along which are told exciting stories about life, its diversity and the evolutionary processes that shape it. Through pieces integrated in innovative artistic creations, interactive modules, installations and sculptures, is built at the Biodiversity Gallery a universal narrative that is both beautiful, stimulating and accessible.
The Hall of Biodiversity - CCV is inseparable from Porto Botanical Garden, which surrounds it, which makes it a unique set of unrepeatable individuality. Centred on a romantic nucleus, the garden has expanded to include illustrative species of natural diversity, support of scientific knowledge. Also, the elegant nineteenth century house that houses the Biodiversity Gallery - CCV has gained a new meaning through a museology discourse that covers the living world as seen by science.
