Pela Grei/ Monumento aos Tripeiros

Monument designed by Lagoa Henriques, erected in 1960 as part of the commemorations of the Fifth Centenary of the death of Infante D. Henrique. It symbolizes the gratitude to the men of the shipyards and the people who built, gave supplies to and manned his 1st armada (1415). These facts are represented in the group of bronze sculptures formed of three figures. In the background, there is a stone wall where the sea routes of the Portuguese are drawn and on the opposite side, we have the transcription of the "Capítulos Gerais da Cidade do Porto nas Cortes de 1436".
