Statues, Sculptures & Fountains
The three-metre high bronze woman looks as if she is striding determinedly towards the barracks with an olive branch (the symbol of peace) in one hand and an astrolabe in the other. On her head she wears a Frisian cap which Bruno Marques, the sculptor, admits he borrowed from the French Revolution. The statute was modelled on a 22-year old woman from Porto called Maria do Carmo.
