Carlos Alberto Theatre - TECA
Theatres
This theatre formed in 1897 and is named after King Carlos Alberto de Sardenha. From the beginning, it has focused on the presentation of popular shows: from “Horse Circuses” to light operas, light-hearted theatre and cinema.
After a troublesome process of advances and drawbacks, the renovated Teatro Carlos Alberto was finally given back to the city in 2003.
The TECA auditorium acts as a theatre venue and allows for different kinds of settings: Italian, amphitheatre, or as a round room with a moveable stage and auditorium with a maximum capacity of 374.
Combined with its surrounding space, the foyer also functions as a square, in an extension of Rua das Oliveiras, an old and narrow street.
