The Porto UNESCO Centre (CUP), Department of the António de Almeida Foundation, was opened in 1984 and is aimed at contributing to the preservation of peace and security through education, science and culture, and closer collaboration between Nations.
It promotes cultural exchange amongst Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa and America and, given its location in the north of the country and, in particular, in the city of Porto, it supports and promotes cultural initiatives in these areas.
