Maria Isabel Guerra Junqueiro and Luís Pinto de Mesquita Carvalho Foudation
Museums & Thematic Centres
The Museum honours the innovative multifaceted personality of the poet Guerra Junqueiro (1850-1923), and recalls his daughter Maria Isabel, founder of the Foundation, and his son-in-law. It aims to be the museum that comprises ideas and tastes of a family. On the ground floor, the library and the Guerra Junqueiro’s study, the evocative rooms of the foundress and the lobby are intended to unveil them to the visitor.
The upper floor opens with a display of colourful ceramics made in Puente del Arzobispo. It continues with the exhibition rooms:
(1) Portuguese faience from the 18th and 19th centuries.
(2) Ancient paintings: we highlight Jerónimo Bosch and some ancient Catalan.
(3) Ties between Delft, Ming ceramics, glass, archaic furniture and other art forms.
(4, 5 and 6) Evocative environments of the 18th and 19th centuries.
Advance booking for groups of more than 10 people.
