Associação Humanitária Bombeiros Voluntários do Porto

Towards the end of the 19th century, Porto experienced great growth and development. Thanks to this, a group of noteworthy Porto locals decided to create a Voluntary Association. The aim was to ensure that the city and region had sufficient Voluntary Firemen as this was something the City had been demanding for a long time.
Therefore, the Porto Humanitarian Association of Voluntary Firemen was founded in 1875. It was originally based in the Pátio do Paraíso on Rua do Bonjardim.
Nowadays, you will find them on Rua Rodrigues Sampaio which is very close to the City Council.
