Old Oporto British Club
Monuments
Typical bourgeois house with a sunny characteristic which, facing west, has a wide view of the Douro River.
Its guests included city merchant families, the St. Bernard Congregation and the Porto English Club.
To the side, the house's terrace is set on one of the towers of the old Fernandina wall. This tower, 15 metres tall, is visible from the Escadas do Caminho Novo and is a precious relic from the 14th century wall.
Currently in the possession of the Portuguese State, it houses a social and charitable organisation, the Order of Malta.
