Arooj Aftab
Event
In the year she became the first Pakistani artist to win a Grammy (Best Global Music Performance, with the song "Mohabbat"), Arooj Aftab comes to Casa da Música. A pioneer of Pakistan's indie scene, she later immigrated to the US, where she majored in music production, engineering and jazz composition. “Bird Under Water” (2014) and “Siren Islands” (2018), her first albums, were critically acclaimed. A little over a year ago, she released “Vulture Prince”, which was included in the lists of the best albums of 2021 in publications such as The Guardian, 6Music, NPR, Pitchfork, TIME and Uncut. But the expression and recognition of Arooj Aftab's talent goes beyond music, as, as editor of the documentary “Armed With Faith” (2018), she also won an Emmy Award.
