Música e Mito

Event
Mythology is present in all art forms, and this cycle gathers the result of that inspiration in the musical works of composers from various eras. Greek myths are the natural starting point, as founding elements of our civilization. This is how the Prometheus narrative imposes itself, that noble spirit who wanted to give knowledge and art to humanity and served as inspiration for Beethoven and Liszt for the composition of memorable works, being presented by Orquestra Sinfónica. Or Cassandra’s narrative, cursed to see the future without anyone believing in her, an intense musical piece by Michael Jarrell presented by Remix Emsemble with actress Leonor Silveira. The spells that mark Spanish folk traditions are present in a concert by Orquestra Sinfónica around the famous works “El Amor Brujo” by Manuel de Falla and “Carmen” by Bizet, the latter in a version by Shchedrin. The Norse mythology that inspired Wagner's “Ring” cycle makes itself heard with excerpts from the opera “Twilight of the Gods”. And, as we know, the love and death stories have the great potential to give rise to legends that last for a long time. It is around these feelings that both operas in one act will be led by the conductor and composer Peter Eötvös: his “Senza Sangue” and also “Bluebeard’s Castle” by Béla Bartók.
