Alexander Kluge’s Short Films
Event
A heteroclite programme that, through a montage of films and excerpts from films produced for cinema and television over the course of about ten years, introduces us to the kaleidoscopic universe of Alexander Kluge. Among homages to Manoel de Oliveira, Jean-Luc Godard (an extraordinary conversation between Kluge and Godard that approaches the relation between a “blind love” and the passion for making and watching movies) or the multi-projections of Hans Richter (to whom is dedicated “Múltiplas Imagens para 5 Projetores”), the session is organised around the cinema itself, either through a reflection on light, its raw material (very present in DER ZAUBER DER VERDUNKELTEN SEELE), or on its relationship with reality (Lampedusa, the Iraq war, ground zero). From a theory of ruins, we move to a demolition artist (Helge Schneider, a regular presence in Kluge's movies), or to a comforting vision of the permanence of the already century-old movie projectors.
