Anna Paliwoda and Pedro Costa
Event
The sonata for piano and violin has been cultivated by countless composers throughout history. But Beethoven was not just another one: he knew both instruments well and put them at the service of new expressive possibilities, in order to meet his artistic ideal. The basis could be both the elegance of sonatas aimed at amateurs and the fusion between virtuosity and lyricism of more demanding works. Pianist Pedro Costa is the winner of competitions such as Concurso de Interpretação do Estoril, the Louis Spohr Competition for Lied Accompaniment (Germany) and the New Tenuto Competition (Belgium). In this recital, he is joined by the Polish violinist Anna Paliwoda, section leader of the second violins of Orquestra Gulbenkian and recent winner of Concurso de Interpretação do Estoril.
