The diary of a chambermaid
Event
This weekend, Campo Alegre presents "Diary of a Chambermaid", a film by Luís Buñuel, with the participation of Serge Silberman.
In 1963, an encounter between Serge Silberman and Luís Buñuel sealed a commitment that would never be broken.
The French producer intended to make a film together with the Spanish filmmaker, naturalized Mexican. The result was the adaptation of Octave Mirbeau's book "Diary of a Chambermaid".
The film of the same name mirrors the contempt for the bourgeoisie for its moral hypocrisy: "A sophisticated Parisian woman starts working as a chambermaid in a rural estate of an aristocratic family. Initially, Célestine just witness the eccentricities and infamies of the estate’s inhabitants, but soon her presence will interfere and change their lives".
