Danças de Stravinski
Event
The return of acclaimed conductor Michael Sanderling to Casa da Música is always a highlight of the season. The programme starts with the cheerful Circus Polka, full of grotesque effects that refer to the circus universe - in fact, the piece was even written for a circus act with elephants. An essential piece in the repertoire of the great orchestras, The Firebird was the ballet that catapulted Stravinsky to fame. It tells the story of a prince's journey into the magical world of a demigod. In between, the versatile tubist Sérgio Carolino is the soloist in a piece by John Williams, the most awarded composer in Hollywood history.
