Seong-Jin Cho
Event
South Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho embarked on a world-class career after winning the 17th International Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 2015, at just 21. An exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist, he performed a brilliant recital at the 2017 Piano Cycle at Casa da Música. The Six pieces op.118 by Brahms are a set truly remarkable for the diversity of environments they provide, highlighting the more lyrical side of the instrument. The polyphonic composition and the orchestral sounds distinguish César Franck's Prelude, Choral and Fugue, a masterpiece of the French repertoire. Before finishing the recital with a truly revolutionary composition that reveals all the genius of Franz Liszt, Sonata in B Minor, the pianist presents the most auspicious first piece by a composer, Sonata op.1 written in 1908 by Alban Berg.
