New York, 1970s. Tish and Fonny are two young African Americans in love and full of hope for the future. When he is unfairly arrested on charges of rape, the couple sees their world crumble. Sometime later, discovering that she is pregnant with their first child, Tish makes a decision: find a way to prove the judicial error that put her boyfriend behind bars so that he can watch the birth of the child in freedom.

Directed by Barry Jenkins (responsible for the three-time Oscar-winner "Moonlight"), a dramatic film about injustice and prejudice that is based on the novel with the same name by James Baldwin.
