The biggest female sporting event in Porto, one of the most striking in the country, this year will have a different format than usual and will accept registrations from the whole family. Part of the amount raised will, once again, be donated to IPO-Porto and its fight against breast cancer.
In the impossibility of gathering thousands of participants on the streets of the city of Porto, EDP Corrida da Mulher will have a special edition this year, with a gathering in the digital world on May 22nd and 23rd. It will be the first virtual edition of the event and can be held anywhere in the world.
Another novelty is that, for the first time in its history, EDP Corrida da Mulher will accept the participation of the whole family. The intention is that everyone can enjoy a different weekend, and above all fun, with the family.
In addition, and as is tradition at the event, part of the registration fee will be donated to IPO-Porto, to be used in its fight against breast cancer. Over its 14 editions, more than 263 thousand euros have already been raised, through the participation of 225,000 women.
With an estimated limit of 5,000 registrations, EDP Corrida da Mulher Virtual intends to remember the importance of breast cancer screening and, at the same time, to honour women and promote physical exercise for the entire population.
Registration costs eight euros and is available on the organiser's website until May 18th or until the entries are full. The participant’s kit, which includes a technical t-shirt and a digital bib number, will be sent to each participant's home. Participants can later download a participation certificate.
Each one can perform the race at their own pace, running or walking the kilometres they set. The route must be done individually, avoiding group participation, in streets or parks close to home.
