The largest marathon in the country runs on November 3rd

​The distinguished Maratona do Porto is back and has already entries from 57 nationalities.

On the morning of the first Sunday of November, starting at 9 am, runs the sixteenth edition of Porto Marathon, the largest race of its kind in Portugal. The course is flat and fast, propitious to breaking records, with 42,195 kilometres spread over the banks of the Douro and the Atlantic front of Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia and Matosinhos. The start line takes place by Sealife and the finish line is again at Queimódromo.

Porto Marathon already brings has three of the most important worldwide awards in athletics. It was included in the elite list of the International Association of Athletics Federations, with the Bronze category, received the 5 stars of the European Athletic Association and recently became one of the qualifying stages for the AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Championship, which includes the six most recognized marathons in the world (Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York).

This international visibility follows the growing participation of athletes from different parts of the world. By 2018, foreigners were already 41 percent among the more than sis thousand registered in the race, which had 75 countries represented. For this year's edition, the presence of 57 nationalities is already confirmed.

Registrations are still open on its official website. As usual, in addition to the main distance, the event also includes a 15-kilometer course, entitled "APO Family Race - Corrida dos Ossos Saudáveis ", and the six-kilometre "Fun Race".

Porto Marathon 2019 presentation press conference is scheduled for October 22nd, at 3:30 pm, at Salão Árabe of Palácio da Bolsa.
