The Jacobean Year celebrations continue to pass through Porto, now with a themed promotional video dedicated to the Ways of St. James that cross the city.

The narrative illustrates the itinerary of a pilgrim along the Ways of St. James in Porto, a journey that takes from the present to medieval times. In addition to the appreciation and beauty of the route through the Historic Centre, several sites with heritage, religious and tourist interest stand out, especially the monuments and churches with elements regarding Saint James.

The promotional video is, at the same time, a support guide for potential pilgrims: the pilgrim support centre at Capela das Verdades, the accommodation, where the credential is stamped and the resting spots, are aspects unveiled throughout the story.

The aerial view over the Portuguese cobblestone pavement in Praça Carlos Alberto stands out, in the shape of a scallop, one of the Jacobean symbols, and which highlights the importance of Santiago's spiritual and cultural itinerary to the city of Porto.

It has been walked by pilgrims for centuries, the city continues to be visited annually by thousands, for the beginning of a physical and spiritual journey towards Santiago de Compostela.

This is another initiative within the scope of the Jacobean Year celebrations, which due to the pandemic was extended until 2022. In June, Porto hosted the Roadshow Xacobeo 21-22, a traveling campaign promoted by the Xunta de Galicia. On July 17th, the Iacobus Maris regatta will arrive in the city, whose sailing boats will recreate the voyage of the body of the apostle St. James from Israel to Galicia.

The video Caminhos de Santiago no Porto is part of a series of 22 themed promotional videos that the municipality will launch, by the end of 2022, with the aim of enhancing and disseminating the city's potential, as well as promoting it at a local, national, and international level.
