The wait is over and it's time for the long-awaited reunion. The “Coração de Bolhão” [heartbeat of Bolhão] can be felt throughout Porto once again.

The historic Mercado do Bolhão reopens its doors to the city today, putting an end to the wait. The long-awaited reunion of locals and visitors with the market took place today, Thursday, after more than four years of renovation works.

A painstaking work that completely transformed the place, while maintaining the usual “soul”. The tradition of Bolhão will continue to be what it used to be: the fresh produce market will continue to be the protagonist of this iconic building in the city, which will have a total of 81 stalls, 38 shops and 10 restaurants, accommodating 87 historic merchants.

The statuette of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, “patron saint of merchants”, is already waiting for them in the niche at the main entrance to Bolhão, in Rua Formosa. Customers and visitors join the party.
