The competition, which aims to make the São João tradition invade the city's shops, again this year received dozens of submissions. In all, there are 56 windows displays in competition, spread all over the city.

The initiative's main objective is to find the high-street shop window displays that best promote the São João festivities, involving local and high-street shopkeepers and businesspeople, with the common objective of boosting and revitalising the sector, through the promotion of artistic manifestations and the stimulation of the creative spirit. The first place will receive a cash prize of 2,250 euros, the second will receive 1,750 euros and the third place, 1,250 euros. The competition also includes the granting of honourable mentions, from the 4th to the 10th place.

There will be a symbolic voting for the best “Montra Amiga do Ambiente” [Environmentally Friendly Window Display]. In this case, the establishment that uses, in an original and creative way, products that have been reused and renewed, resulting from the activity itself, as well as products that do not harm the environment and that are recycled will be valued. It is also valued the window display that, through the product that the establishment sells, manages to convey a message of environmental responsibility.

Passers-by are also invited to give their opinion. Until June 25th, everyone can vote online for the “Montra Eleita pelo Público” [Window Display Voted by the Public], by scanning a QR Code sticker in each window display. Each person may vote in more than one window display, but only once.

The complete list of participants can be found here, as well as their geographic location.
