Porto appears in second place in the ranking of the best cities in Europe in 2021, in a poll answered by the readers of the renowned Condé Nast Traveler magazine. It is the only Portuguese city to appear in the top 10.


The announcement was published on the October 5th, bank holiday, and is now gaining ground. The score attributed to Porto by the voters reaches an impressive 92.78, behind the winner Istanbul (Turkey), which got 93.67 points, in other words, it does not even is one absolute point away from the Invicta city.


The third position in the ranking belongs to San Sebastian (Spain), with 91.52 points.


Overall, the evaluation looked at criteria such as outstanding gastronomy, hotel variety with high standards of service and quality, hospitality of the locals, in addition to the historical tradition of each city.


For the 34th annual edition of Condé Nast Traveler's Reader's Choice Awards (CNT), more than 800,000 readers from around the world answered the questionnaire, which asked for answers to various parameters on multiple scales.


In fact, in the year in which Porto is runner-up among European cities, Portugal also gets the award for best destination in the world.


In March of this year, the city of Porto had already been voted by the CNT as one of the best destinations for solo travellers, in addition to having obtained, in 2020, the honour of being one of the friendliest cities on the European continent.
