The name says it is in October, but the most iconic drink is called March and the party does not wait long and starts this month. For a fortnight, Fábrica Nortada brings once again to Porto “the largest beer party in the world”. Oktoberfest is ready to be served.

Making beer is an art that has already earned its respect: in its origins, the German region of Bavaria, where the “Purity Law” is instituted, considered the oldest food law and which defines the ingredients with which this drink should be made; but also in Porto, where the tradition is already in its fourth edition.

Until October 9th, there are costumes and decorations in the most traditional Bavarian style, a series of themed entertainment activities such as “beer pong” and a draughts game in a beer version, and a specially dedicated German menu. There are pretzels, sausages, schnitzel and apfelstrudel to accompany the beer varieties available.

The queen of the party is, as usual, the Märzen mug, the beer with a moderate aroma of German malts, something sweet but dry at the end, transparent and limpid, with ivory-toned foam, which is produced in Bavaria in March.

Oktoberfest is “a relevant moment for the brewing industry in general, which will certainly mark the return of celebrations, friends’ get-togethers and family reunions”, believes Rui Pedro Pimenta, from Nortada.
