Banco Alimentar do Porto already has the “Partilhar o Natal” (Sharing Christmas) initiative underway, with which it intends to make up for the lack of the usual face-to-face food collection on hypermarkets. At the same time, it will develop actions to collect food and donations from companies.

The food and donation collection campaign was the way found by the Food Bank to fill the gap in the usual national supermarket collection action, which will not be held due to the current public health context.

This way, the Food Bank calls for the generosity and solidarity of all so that, until December 19th, donate food products such as pasta, rice, canned tuna, beans, chickpeas, sausages, olive oil, oil, sugar, flour, crackers, cereal, milk.

The adhering places where people can leave their contribution are diverse, such as groups of scouts, schools, universities, faculties, companies and, of course, Banco Alimentar do Porto. To find out where the food collection points are contact Banco Alimentar do Porto via email ba.porto@bancoalimentar.pt. All actions resulting from this initiative can be followed on Banco Alimentar do Porto's social media: Facebook and Instagram.

Until December 13th the “Campanha Vale” takes place, through which, at supermarket cashiers, each customer can purchase a gift card which represents food to be donated to the Food Bank. The “Campanha Online” (Online Campaign) is also in effect on the website www.alimentestaideia.pt. The donor can choose the Food Bank he/her wants to donate to, the type of food and its respective quantity.

Actions will also be carried out in companies, in two aspects. To collect food, the “Presentes de Natal” (Christmas presents) campaign will take place, through which employees who are remotely working can make donations to Banco Alimentar do Porto, with their respective company giving the same total quantity of the donation. The collection of donations will be carried out with the “Jantar de Natal” (Christmas Dinner) campaign: as it is impossible to hold the usual Christmas dinners this year, the Food Bank suggests companies to give the money for Christmas dinners as a donation to Banco Alimentar do Porto so it can buy food.
