Galeria Municipal do Porto (GMP) will open again to the public on June 2, following the recommendations of reduced capacity and physical distance indicated in the communiqué of the Council of Ministers of April 30, concerning the opening of museums, monuments and palaces, art galleries and the like. To ensure the safety of visitors and officials, the use of masks is now mandatory and the maximum number of visitors at the same time will be limited to 20 people on floor 0 and 10 people in the mezzanine.

In order to ensure the realization of all the exhibition projects announced in February, the exhibition schedule for 2020 and 2021 has been revised by the Gallery's artistic team in collaboration with all artists, curators and program partners.

It is with "Máscaras (Masks)", curated by João Laia and Valentinas Klimasauskas, and "Apesar de não estar, estou muito" by Diogo Jesus, curated by João Ribas, that GMP will reopen doors - exhibitions whose inauguration date was scheduled for March 14th, but which were never known to the public. Respecting the Council of Ministers directive that prohibits events or gatherings with more than ten people, the GMP will not hold any event associated with the inaugurations. The two exhibitions can be visited until August 16, within the usual opening hours of the Galeria Municipal do Porto.

The postponement of the above mentioned exhibitions led to a rescheduling of other planned projects until August 2021 and the need to extend the presentation period until November 14 of the same year. Only then will the GMP close for renewal, contrary to what was initially planned.

The collective and retrospective exhibition "Anuário 19" will also be resumed and can be visited between June 2 and July 19 at the Palácio das Artes - Fundação da Juventude. The project, integrated in the satellite activity of Galeria Municipal do Porto was only one week open to the public.
