Scheduled for July 9, the eighth edition of the event includes a 10 km race, a walk, and a children's race.

The athletics event that unites the banks of the Douro River hits the road this Sunday morning. The eighth edition of the Portucale Race counts on the participation of about two thousand people, among kids and adults, federated and amateur. Last minute athletes can still sign up.

The first to run are the children. The 500-meter relay course gathers kids from six to ten years old early on, with the little athletes moving to the road transformed into an athletics track at 9 o'clock.

The main race, the 10 kilometers between Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, starts thirty minutes later, with the starting gun on the Gaia side, at Avenida de Ramos Pinto, in front of the Corpus Christi Convent. In a circular route, the finish line of the Portucale Race will also be at this location.

In parallel, there will also be a non-competitive five-kilometer walk/run, open to all ages.

Supported by the municipalities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, the Portucale Race is organized by the Centro de Atletismo do Porto, a sports, recreational and training organization that has been active since 1974.

Olympic champion Rosa Mota, who gave her name to the school of the Porto emblem, will once again be the race's godmother.

To receive all the athletes, some streets in the city of Porto will be blocked to traffic.
