The daily reports by Direção Geral da Saúde-DGS (General Directorate for Health), on the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic in Portugal, inform that the city of Porto has not registered new cases of the disease since June 5th and that the Municipality has already fallen to fifth place, among those who, since the beginning of the epidemic in Portugal, have accumulated more cases.

Since the DGS report of June 6th, until today, the city has always registered the same 1414 cases, less than half of the 2,880 cases registered in Lisbon, most of which in the last month. Sintra, Vila Nova de Gaia and Loures also have a greater number of infected people since the beginning of the pandemic than Porto.

The lack of positive cases in Porto has nothing to do with the lack or less testing, as both the city's main hospitals (São João and Santo António), both the mobile screening centre set up in Queimódromo and several private labs continue to carry out the testing on all suspected cases or targets of screening.

Porto was the first city in the country to report an infected person, but it was also the first to take confinement and screening measures, as well as the first to carry out a complete testing programme in all retirement homes in the city, separating positives from negatives cases.
