Founded in 1983, it was refurbished in 1989 and then again in 1994 contributing to the growth of an artistic community which, up until that time, didn´t exist in the city. They produce and deliver their own dance and theatre performances. The Balleteatro school, founded in 1989, was born out of the Porto Contemporary Ballet and Theatre project which aimed to develop contemporary dance, theatre and performance.
The educational service was conceived as a place to learn, deepen your understanding or simply to experiment. It offers regular dance, theatre, performance, visual arts and music classes for adults and children.
The Production and Educational Service operate from their premises at Praça 9 de Abril. The school, financial department and registration office are based at Rua Infante D.Henrique nº30 in Ribeira.
