Tartufo

Tartufo

Event
Premiered in 1664, “Tartufo” [Tartuffe] is the most caustic of Molière's comedies, a meditation on hypocrisy that was censured by the French Church and courts. Tartuffe is an arriviste who uses religion to reach a higher position in the social scale, the emblem of a predatory, cut-throat society. “What time was that and what time is this one in which we live?”, wonders director Tónan Quito, inviting us to establish connections between past and present. This show is presented within the scope of NÓS/NOUS, a project that enriches the theatrical culture exchanges between France, Galicia and Portugal, by looking at them as a scenic common ground. Carried out by four theatres (including the Teatro Nacional of Porto and Teatro Nacional of Lisbon) and by four higher education drama schools, this project supports the professional training and internationalization of students at the end of their academic careers, by bringing them into contact with internationally renowned stage creators.
