History teacher Gabi Teichert (Hannelore Hoger) searches for the roots of German history. One had better study that history, if one does not want to be destroyed by it. As required by her profession, Teichert is a strong advocate of Enlightenment education and values. At the congress of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), in her daily teaching or in her private life, she aspires to change and fights for a cause worth committing to. Shovel in hand, she digs through the wreckage of history, an image that can be extended to the entire work of Kluge, who, in a recent interview, assigned himself the role of archaeologist.
