Part-Time Work of a Domestic Slave
Event
Roswitha Bronski (Alexandra Kluge) is another one of the filmmaker's great female characters. Roswitha is an exhausted woman, torn between housework, taking care of her husband and children, and the illegal abortions she performs to make up the family budget. She will find a new energy in the revolutionary movements she joins, but the first step towards change takes place within the “family unit”. As a line within the film itself says, "Roswitha feels tremendous strength within herself, and she knows from the movies that that strength really exists." Misunderstood by many at the time of its release, “Part-Time Work of a Domestic Slave” is a deeply current film. (Cinemateca Portuguesa)
