Ritmos Americanos
Event
Venezuelan conductor Carlos Izcaray directs a programme entirely dedicated to the American continent. While the Argentine Alberto Ginastera brings us the nostalgia of the great melodies enriched by orchestral virtuosity, the Mexican Silvestre Revueltas focuses on Caribbean dance rhythms, with an attractive and good-humoured language that earned him comparisons with Stravinsky. The Russian composer, in turn, lived in the United States for three decades and wrote Dumbarton Oaks for the 30th wedding anniversary of Robert Woods Bliss and his wife Mildred, one of the most famous philanthropic couples in the country's history. A concert with great solos for the most diverse instruments of the orchestra and where the rhythmic component is truly contagious.
