#3. Programming: choices in times of distancing

After months of an unexpected and dramatic stop for artists who have seen their performances cancelled or postponed, the time has come for an expected as well as cautious resumption. How to programme cultural spaces for audiences wearing face masks, in times of social distancing? Is the increase on the number of performances the best solution to fill the reduced capacity? What new formats will emerge as a result of the constraints imposed? Will the streets, as they did centuries ago, be the world-class stage of the performing arts? Can online programming contribute effectively to the decentralization of institutions and artists, compensating foreseeable difficulties in the performances’ itinerancy?
