Vivarium Festival

Vivarium Festival

Event
The phrase by the 19th-century French poet Rimbaud "Je est un autre" ("I is another") sets the tone for the conference that, together with exhibitions, performances and concerts, will make the 3rd edition of the Vivarium Festival.

The performance arts, thought and technology festival will occupy four spaces in the city (Maus Hábitos, Passos Manuel, Armazém 22 and Reitoria da Universidade do Porto) to relaunch the reflection on the influence of technology in the arts and in the human being, throughout three days of intense programme.

One of the big events will be the conference ""Je est un autre, instintos e instituições na era da tecnologia", which takes Rimbaud's phrase as its theme, who, in a letter to the also poet Paul Demeny, discussed the paradox of "me" and the "other" in the sense that someone can be other than himself from the point of view of artistic creation. In his view, the artist does not own his creation as it is it which creates itself under the eye of the artist but independently of him.

The Vivarium conference will feature as speakers, French visual artist Laurent Goldring, Philosophy researcher Ana Falcato, full professor Ernesto Costa, artist Leonel Moura and judge Alexandre Oliveira.

Meanwhile, exhibitions by North American Mark America, French Laurent Goldring and Portuguese Tiago Rorke are planned, in collaboration with the joint project MILL - Makers in little Lisbon.

On the musical side, the programme includes performances by American multi-instrumentalist Kelly Moran, British project Lil Data, the Portuguese Osso Vaidoso and the duo Telectu. There will also be performances by: the performer and digital poetess Yatta (originally from Sierra Leone and living in the United States), French Franck Vigroux and Slovak dancer and choreographer Eva Klimackova, Laurent Goldring and Portuguese dancer and choreographer Gustavo Monteiro.
