3 unforgetable days for teenagers

The summer holidays are here! What to do in Porto for 3 days with teenage kids? Thinking about them (and you!), here are a few fun suggestions for 3 memorable days! Use your 3-day walking Porto.CARD to discover more and save lots of money!

Day 1: Discovering the city

9am-10am - The 225 steps of the Clérigos Tower

The best way to start is with a challenge: climbing 225 steps to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. The climb takes 30 minutes, but it’s not as bad as it sounds!

10:30am-12pm - Skateboarding at the Casa da Música

The Casa da Música is so close, just 10 minutes by bus and 30 on foot. Prepare them for an adrenaline rush skateboarding outside the Casa da Música. The area has been equipped with the best conditions and they’ll love it! Take the chance to join a guided tour of the building and discover the city’s contemporary architecture!

12pm-2pm - Picnic at the Gardens of Palácio de Cristal

The gardens of the Palácio de Cristal provide a great opportunity to enjoy nature and an unforgettable view of the River Douro. Take a picnic or hire a company to deliver one for you. If you prefer, lunch at the Restaurante Casa da Música .

3pm-3:30pm - The catacombs

Next stop after getting back on the bus that passes right by the Casa da Música and Palácio de Cristal is the museum of the Igreja Conventual de S. Francisco de Assis . The “Church of Gold” will come as a surprise, but what will really take you aback are the bones in the catacombs.

3:30pm-4pm - History of the 20 shields on the Palácio da Bolsa

A guided tour of the Palácio da Bolsa (30 min) adjacent to the Monument of São Francisco is a must. The Arabic Room and Courtyard of the Nations are fun ways to discover the city’s heritage and history.

4:30pm-7pm - A walk through Ribeira

Strolling along the Ribeira and banks of the Douro or watching the rabelo boats are always excellent ways to spend a relaxing afternoon. Crossing the Luís I Bridge on foot to enjoy the view of Porto from the Ribeira de Gaia, beside the port wine cellars, is de rigueur. Surprise them with a bridges cruise (50 min.) .

9pm - into the night

For dinner, we suggest a Porto speciality: the francesinha, a tasty sandwich filled with various types of meat and covered in sauce. After dinner, the streets, bars and discos fill with life and music for every taste.

Instead of surfing, offer them a day of extreme adventure in the Gerês National Park. Some of the activities designed to challenge your limits are canyoning, rafting and diving! Have fun hiking and discovering the park’s most secret trails and places (up to discount) .
