Since June 1st, those who choose to shop at the city's high street stores can enjoy 1-hour of free parking in municipal car parks.
The proposal aims to help the city's retailers affected by the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The exemption from paying a parking fee is valid until August 31st and provides for the attribution of 25 thousand tickets to retailers in the city's city centre, who then give them to their customers so that they can use them at the municipal car parks of Trindade, Silo Auto, Duque de Loulé and at Alfândega car park.
The initiative, in addition to seeking to revitalise local retail, helps boost parking in municipal car parks, instead of surface parking, often in prohibited places, which harms the city's mobility.
This measure is added to the vouchers that Porto City Hall distributed to commercial establishments that joined the programme to boost commercial activity. The measure includes a discount of 2 euros for every 20 euros spent in the participating shops, with a maximum limit of 100 euros spent per purchase, until 30 July.
