Celebrating its 19th edition, the EDP Maratona do Porto is the most anticipated race of the year. The 2023 edition will be run on November 5th. The starting gun is already has already been fired, with the official opening of registrations on the organiser's website.
Next year, the race will once again extend to the three neighbouring municipalities, Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia and Matosinhos. After the traffic restrictions on the lower deck of the Luiz I Bridge, which excluded the Vila Nova de Gaia waterfront in the last two years, in 2023 it is expected that athletes will cross again to the south bank of the Douro.
In 2023, the start of the marathon will be at SEA LIFE Porto and the finish line at Queimódromo. Thus, the race will take place along the Atlantic front and on the banks of the Douro River, thus combining a panorama of sea and river in a flat and fast route which is propitious to set records.
It should be recalled that, in 2022, Kenyan James Mwangui set a new race record, with a time of 02:08:47. Kenyan Monica Jepkoech has been holding the women's race record, 02:26:58, since 2017.
The organiser, in charge of RunPorto, informs that, in this Christmas season, for those who still don't know what to gift their friends and family, it has launched a registration campaign with a special price. The price is 35€ until December 31st (exclusive for online registrations at maratonadoporto.com).
