The North American Deftones were announced by the North Music Festival as headliners for the festival's first day, May 22nd, thus joining The Script who had already been named as stage leaders for the following day.
Three years after their last visit to Portugal, the Deftones are back to perform at Alfândega do Porto, in the year of the release of their ninth album and two years after having organised and hold their own festival - Dia De Los Deftones.
The band of Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter, Frank Delgado, Abe Cunningham and Sergio Vega have sold more than 10 million albums since starting their career in 1988 in Sacramento, California, and have major hits like "Gore" (2016), "Koi No Yokan" (2012) and "Diamond Eyes" (2010), in addition to winning a Grammy with the track "Elite" and becoming a cult band that spans different generations.
"Change", "Minerva", "Digital Bath", "Passenger" or "Be Quiet and Drive" are other undisputed success songs, but it was the release of their album "White Pony" (2000) that catapulted them by being honoured by Rolling Stone as one of the "100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time".
The Deftones are thus the second band confirmed for the North Music Festival, after the announcement of The Script, which will be headliners on May 23rd.
The event marks the start of summer festivals in the Portuguese territory and, more than a music festival in the heart of the city of Porto, the organisation - the promoter Vibes & Beats - points out that the North Music Festival provides various experiences such as boat trips with DJ, "jam sessions", "street food" to suit all tastes or "wine gardens".
In addition to the main stage, the festival has three other stages with the guarantee of a diversified programme, similar to the last edition, which counted 28 thousand spectators and welcomed major names like Bush, Bastille or Franz Ferdinand.
The first phase of tickets is limited and available on Ticketline, as are the general passes.
