The main surf competition in Portugal, which awards the titles of national champions, has one more stage confirmed for the calendar of the 2021 season: it will take place at the Praia Internacional of Porto during the second weekend of May.

In the preview of the second round of the Meo Surf League, to be held in Figueira da Foz, the best national surfers now know that they will compete in Porto and Matosinhos on 7, 8 and 9 May. The northern round, this year renamed Joaquim Chaves Saúde Porto Pro, is the third of the five rounds of the competition and is also the one which has been held for the most consecutive seasons (16).

Besides being crucial for the national titles, the competition takes place in the same month that the National Team participates in the ISA World Championship in El Salvador, where they will compete for the last spots for the Olympic Games in Tokyo. The waves of the International Beach will thus serve as a preparation for the Portuguese Olympic aspirations.

After the opening in Ericeira, from 9 to 11 April, the caravan of the MEO Surf League is preparing to return to action in Figueira da Foz, on the weekend of 23 to 25 April, with the national stars of the sport returning to the famous waves of Praia do Cabedelo.

Two weeks later it will then be the turn of the cities of Porto and Matosinhos to host the third round of the calendar.

As usual, the competition in Porto will be followed live on Sport TV, as well as on the remaining official channels: MEO Desporto Facebook page, position 810 of the MEO channels and ANS channels.

The MEO Surf League 2021 is organised by ANS and Fire!, with the local support of the city councils of Porto and Matosinhos, and the technical support of Onda Pura and the Portuguese Surf Federation.
