22nd edition Festa do Cinema Francês

Event
In 2020, “Festa do Cinema Francês” (French Film Festival) resisted Covid-19, despite the health restrictions, constituting a beautiful edition of resilience, welcoming more than 11,000 spectators who, spread over five different cities, enjoyed 54 films.

This year, the event takes place at Teatro Municipal do Porto, from October 17th to 23rd, with a special selection for the general public and also with the traditional film screenings for school.

The programme will once again bring the best of French cinematography produced in the last year. Some films will be accompanied by debates with French and Portuguese thinkers, further enriching the cultural ties between both countries.

“Bye Bye Morons”, by Albert Dupontel, the film that will open the festival, will make you experience moments of gravity and lightness with its three captivating characters. Through “The Big Hit” by Emmanuel Courcol you will be able to participate in a formidable human adventure thanks to a theatre workshop in a prison. Let yourself be swept away by Emmanuel Mouret and his film “The Things We Say, The Things We Do”, and the various skilfully constructed sentimental stories. With “Gagarine” by Fanny Liatard and Jérémy Trouilh, young audiences will follow 16-year-old Youri, who grew up dreaming of becoming an astronaut, in his fight to save his city.
