Easter in Porto
Easter is a time of faith and renewal, full of centuries-old traditions. We suggest that you experience the spirit of Holy Week Porto-style, even if in a different way, at home! These are times of reinvention and Porto.CARD’s Partners did just that, reinvented themselves and created several options to take Easter to your home.
Who does not remember the sweets whenever speaking about Easter? In Porto you can find sugared almonds, chocolates, Pão de Ló, folar and many other sweets, specially made for this season ... If, like us, you cannot do without a nice sweet, we suggest the Bonjour Liqueur Dragees from Arcádia . Here will also find almonds to cater all tastes, as well as Pão de Ló Arcádia. At Casa das Tortas, where Pastel de Chaves is king, there is Pão-de-Ló from Ovar and folar from Chaves. Although it is not the typical folar from Porto, we promise you will not regret it. To accompany all these delicacies, nothing like a good wine. Take advantage of the special offers of this time of year at Garrafeira do Carmo and, be sure you have everything you need to celebrate Easter at home.
Another tradition that we cannot pass up is giving something special to those who love us, especially a gift for godparents and godmothers, a centuries-old tradition. At David Rosas you will find several gift options. We are sure that you will find in this shop the perfect gift that you are looking for, thus surprising the ones who are always on your side.
Since this special season is going to be spent at home, we propose that you decorate it thoroughly. In the shop Memórias there are several decoration options dedicated especially to Easter. Take advantage of our special discounts and place your order now. You can collect your order at the store’s door, or ask to receive it at home, by post.
A different Easter ...
This year we cannot experience Easter in the traditional way, all together at the table, with your family and the best dishes of this season. And so, why not reinvent the Easter lunch and create the Easter Brunch? At O Caçula, you can find everything you need to make this brunch one of the most special. It is true that you will not find the roast kid goat on the menu, but you will have wholemeal crepes, bowls, cheese bread, pancakes, toasts, and eggs.
Easter with Culture
Why not take the time at home to have a cultural programme? There are several options that the city's theatres have to offer, both for children and adults.
If you like music, Rivoli . Municipal Theatre will present indignu [lat.], streamed, between 2nd and 4th April. The indignu collective [lat.] Have been making post-rock music for over a decade, but far from the usual rock and alternative mainstream, inspired by Portuguese-speaking countries’ culture, the sea and the land. They already have four albums, having gone through most of the stages in Continental Portugal and the islands. They have performed in two major festivals, the dunk!fest in Belgium and the VIVID Festival in Norway, and there are several collaborations with Portuguese artists such as Ana Deus, Valter Hugo Mãe and Manel Cruz.
São João National Theatre organised an Easter Workshop online until April 1st, for the little ones. In this workshop, children will be challenged to build a story from writing, interpretation, music and illustration, putting their imagination to the test. Emotions, particularly unstable in this time of pandemic, will be one of the topics to be addressed.
Enjoy this Easter in the comfort of your home and then come to Porto. We are sure that there will be many chances to visit Porto later and to enjoy the various activities that Porto.CARD has to offer. At that time, the only difficult thing to do will be choosing where to start.
