“Confiança Porto” programme strengthens its commitment to train tourist accommodation managers

Places for the 2nd edition of the training municipal programme “Confiança Porto” [Trust Porto], aimed at tourist accommodation managers, were filled in less than 24 hours. The Porto City Hall’s programme starts on February 22nd and will focus on a dynamic and hands-on nature, focused on the day-to-day operations of the business in that sector.

The training will be provided by training entities, individually specialised and accredited in each of the areas of activity, and which aim to meet the requirements to get the “Confiança Porto” seal of recognition.

According to the Councillor for Tourism and Internationalisation, Catarina Santos Cunha, “the high level of participation in the training programme reflects the sector's commitment to providing a service of excellence to those who visit us. It is essential to enhance the improvement of the tourism offer and to continue this initiative, so that more accommodation units can reap the benefits and get the seal of recognition, contributing to the promotion of excellence of the destination”.

The Municipal Recognition Programme "Confiança Porto" - Tourist Accommodation, implemented since April 2021, awards local accommodation (AL) and tourist developments operating in the municipality of Porto, which show, in their business model, a series of good practices and initiatives in terms of management, hospitality, cleaning service, equipment, infrastructure and safety, as well as using local products. The fulfilment of these assumptions must represent the excellence and promotion for the tourism and sustainable development of Porto, particularly in the social, environmental and economic aspects. In line with the vision of the future for the sustainability of the Porto destination, two new requirements for awarding recognition were recently introduced: Staff Management and Qualification and Economic Circularity/Sustainability, which aim to keep up with emerging trends in the sector.

The programme includes a completely free training component, of a non-compulsory nature, based on the sharing of good practices and guidelines on the range of identified topics, which help managers to provide a service of excellence.

To get the “Confiança Porto” seal of recognition, entities undergo a technical visit that analyses and verifies compliance with the established requirements, so the training programme is a support tool in this process.
