Coliseu Porto Ageas is reviving the tradition of the events "Carnaval só no Coliseu" and bringing it to the 21st century with “Carnaval no Coliseu: a folia regressa a casa”, on the night before Carnival’s day.
This great party, on the evening of February 24th, resumes the atmosphere of the carnivals from the 40s, 50s and 60s in the city of Porto, when the events lasted three days, with orchestras, Carnival balls, circus shows and children's matinee. The typical "Carnaval só no Coliseu" posters, authentic pieces of art by illustrator António Cruz Caldas, are still popular today as they portray the atmosphere of colour and joy that existed in this venue.
But Coliseu takes its own history and gives it a touch of contemporaneity that makes stand out the current calendar of the iconic concert hall, assuming the desire to become, and again, a reference in the celebration of Carnival, now with the brand "a folia regressa a casa".
On February 24th, the doors will open at 10 pm for an evening of live music with the orchestra The Royal Band, but also featuring Drag Queens from all over the country: Elektra Ashford, Agatha Top, Claudia Fux, Wanda Morelly and also the Natasha Semmynova from Porto, who surprised everyone on the television show "The Voice".
DJ Sininho & Mendes, from the mythical Club 447, will be in charge of the records, taking the Club's dancers to the stage. In addition, there will be a contest for the best masks, all bars will be open, and a cocktail show is also scheduled.
