Autumn arrived in Porto and brought its warm colors, cozy smells and the flavors of eating and crying for more. It is one of the best seasons to visit the undefeated city that is absolutely formidable with the autumn tones.
Enjoy roasted chestnuts
The smell of roasted chestnuts invades the streets of Porto in the fall. You can find several vendors in emblematic points of the city, as in Rua de Santa Catarina or at the door of one of the most beautiful train stations in the world, the São Bento Railway Station, where the chestnuts are roasted on the spot.
If you don't have the opportunity to taste freshly baked chestnuts, you can visit some of the traditional stores and buy all the typical products of the famous Magusto, the biggest celebration of autumn in Porto. Visit Casa Januário, the A Pérola do Bolhão , the O Pretinho do Japão or the A Favorita do Bolhão where you can find everything you need for your Magusto at home: chestnuts, jeropiga and vinho verde.

Visit a Port Wine Cellar
Visiting a cellar is much more than tasting Port wine. It is to discover its identity, its origin and all its period of life from the vineyard to the wooden barrels, where it sits and earns its full soul. In the end, the authentic flavour invades the palate and remains forever in memory.
Admire the warm colors in the City Parks
The city of Porto has several beautiful parks to visit at any time of the year. But, without a doubt, the autumn colors enhance its beauty. Take advantage of autumn in Porto to stroll through the various parks and capture incredible pictures with autumn as a backdrop.
Start in the Riverside and Boavista area and stroll through the largest urban park in the country, with a surface of 83 hectares that extend to the Atlantic Ocean, the City Park . Then, if you go to the Historical Center you can visit one of the most emblematic points of the city, Serralves. There you can visit the Serralves Park and fall in love with its gardens. Later, it is worth walking the distance from the Historical Center to the Oriental Zone to discover the S. Roque Park where there are labyrinths that remind us of children's tales.
Taste hot chocolate in emblematic places
A flavor that can't be missed in the autumn in Porto is hot chocolate. The color, aroma and flavor of this delicacy match perfectly with this season. But, it matches even better if it is tasted in a traditional Port house.
Make the most of your afternoon and enjoy a delicious hot chocolate in one of the many renowned houses in "Porto de Tradição". At Riverside and Boavista, go to Confeitaria Arcádia- Chocolate House . In the Historical Center the choice will be more deliciously difficult. You can visit La Copa, near Praça dos Poveiros or go to Leitaria da Quinta do Paço. From here you can go down to Rua das Flores where you will find two chocolateries where chocolate is divine: Chocolataria das Flores or Chocolataria Equador .
