Day 1 - City Centre
Start this unforgettable experience with a stroll through Porto’s city centre, along Avenida dos Aliados, where the City Hall stands, as well as many other buildings of different architectural styles.
Proceed to the Clérigos Tower (3€), where its 225 steps will take you on a unique and indescribable view of the city.
You can visit Carmo Church (2,10€), a remarkable testament to the rococo style, very close by. The side façade covered with tiles will be the ideal setting to capture this moment. But don’t stop there, Casa Escondida, the narrowest house of the city, the catacombs and the church’s sacristy promise to surprise you.
At the end of the morning go on a guided Tuk Tuk tour with Tuk tour (from 18€) and get to know even more monuments in the Invicta. During 1h30 you will get to know the alleys and most hidden corners of the historic centre.
After a delicious lunch at one of our Porto.CARD partners’ restaurants, visit Soares dos Reis National Museum (2,50€), the oldest public art museum in the country, with a rich collection of decorative arts, including ceramics, goldsmithery, jewellery, glassware and furniture from the 16th and 19th centuries.
You can’t miss, very close by, the Romantic Extension (free admission) and the Gardens of Palácio de Cristal. Museu da Cidade – Romantic Extension, housed at Quinta da Macieirinha, is currently a key place for rethinking and expanding romance in the city. The surrounding garden, the shapes and colours of nature will awaken all your senses. If you remain in the Gardens of Palácio de Cristal until sunset, you will have a nice surprise, since this is one of the places with the best view for a late afternoon.

DAY 2 - Historic Centre
Get your second day started in the best way possible, with a walk through the historic centre!
Witness the city’s medieval origins and come across unavoidable monuments in each step. At the Cathedral (3€) you can enjoy the sacred art and stroll through the cloisters. You can find, very close by, the Santa Clara (3€) which has undergone a long restoration process and is considered one of the best national examples of churches lined with gold in the Baroque style and, therefore, worthy of a visit.
Proceed towards the river. Pay attention to all the details while you roam around traditional alleys and find the city’s magic in every corner. Before you get to Ribeira, you will find two of the most visited monuments: Palácio da Bolsa (7,50€), a national monument known for its Arabian Hall and the Igreja de S. Francisco do Porto (6€), notable for its gilded woodcarvings and catacombs. At the end of your visit, recharge your batteries while tasting the traditional delicacies Porto has to offer: salted codfish, tripes and, of course, the famous “francesinha”.
Start your afternoon with a privileged view of Porto and Gaia, on board of a Rabelo boat. The 6 Bridges Cruise (12€) will make you fall in love with the riverside area. At the end of your trip, take a walk along the other bank of the Douro River. Cais de Gaia is an excellent spot to take pictures, with D. Luíz I Bridge and the traditional Rabelo Boats as a backdrop.
Find out more about the production of Port Wine and the Douro Valley in Porto Cruz Space's multimedia centre (2 for 1 except Premium Tasting; Cocktails 2 for 1). At the end of your visit, both children and adults can get a special tasting.
On this side of the Douro River, you will also find many Port Wine Cellars where you can get to know all the history, winemaking and ageing process of this traditional wine. We leave some suggestions of cellars near Luiz I Bridge: Sandeman Cellars (11,90€), Ferreira Cellars (11,90€), Burmester Cellars (11,70€), Cálem Cellars (12,60€).
