Duque da Ribeira Tour – Route of Memories

Walking tour with community guides – local residents will share their life stories, memories and traditions of the Barredo zone and also about the charismatic figure of the Duke of Ribeira. A Porto typical lunch in a local tavern is included.
It´s a community tour, which means that it is conducted by people who actually live in the historical centre of Porto. The tour guides are local residents.
This tour offers the visitors a unique opportunity to become a community tourist, which means you will meet the authentic and genuine Porto through the eyes and voices of those who live in this place.
You will see what and who stands behind the building facades and become involved in the day life of a local community. Your participation helps this community to remain active and sustainable and contributes to preserve their social and cultural identity!

  • Notices: Maximum of 25 participants. Booking and payment accepted until noon of the day preceding the tour.
  • Notes: The tour is in Portuguese but may be assisted by an interpreter guide. It is conducted by local community guides who have their own way of expressing themselves. Language (like other elements such as music, dance, beliefs, customs and traditions) is part of the cultural identity of a territory and of a community. Therefore, the interpreter guide will not translate the tour word by word but will make sure foreign participants understand it, clarifying all issues as requested. We're focused on enabling people to experience the spirit of the community and get the feeling... listening, watching, contacting…being part of the whole thing.
